Suppliers of fertilisers: the European Commission is seeking your feedback on the content of fertilisers. (Deadline 31st December 2009)
 
A European Community risk assessment on cadmium has recommended that the cadmium content of phosphate fertilisers should be reduced. The Commission is therefore preparing a legislative proposal to limit the cadmium content in all mineral phosphate fertilisers, irrespective of whether they are ‘EC Fertiliser’ in the sense of Regulation (EC) No 2003/2003, or national fertilisers.
As the supply of low-cadmium raw material for phosphate fertilisers is limited, there would be additional costs for industry and farmers. The European Commission wants to hear views on the economic impact, experiences, difficulties and costs encountered by businesses marketing mineral phosphate fertilisers.
